Explore Alternatives to Medications, Tests, Multiple Specialists, & Surgery for Resolving Pain and Dysfunction
Our bodies are truly fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139) with an incredible capacity for healing! Central to this construct is respect for the connective tissues, which are defined as tissues that support, protect, and give structure to other tissues and organs in the body. Fascia is a major element of the connective tissue family that is gaining more attention in research. Think of it as the white filmy stuff that wraps around meat as well as every organ in the body, and is continuous from head to toe, right to left, front to back in a seamless network. The layers of fascia are meant to glide individually on each other, but problems arise when this glide is impeded. Ultimately, we are meant to move! This applies to bones, biceps, bowels, bladders, and backs.

Many issues classically attributed to aging or "wear and tear" actually stem from a lack of early recognition and proper attention to the connective tissues. In other words, often the problem is NOT the structure manifesting symptoms (knee, ovaries, shoulder, bladder, back, gut, etc.) but rather the fascial environment enveloping the structure. Perhaps this is why so many tests focusing on the structure are inconclusive, such as Xrays that show arthritis in both knees but only one hurts, or bladder tests that are negative but problems persist. This lines up with research, which shows that many people with + findings on MRI, Xrays, and other studies don't have symptoms. Conversely, tests can also be negative in the presence of pain and dysfunction. In these cases the fascia could provide an explanation as to cause and also give direction to care.
